HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Yummy Cake!!

This past weekend we celebrated Sydney's 1st birthday. It is quite amazing that he is already one. We had a really great time. A big BBQ was planned at Waneka Park. There were many friends that came to celebrate with us. Sydney seemed to be as cool and calm as he usually is and had a great time. His only moment of uncertainty was when the whole group sang "Happy Birthday" to him. He made it through, but with an interesting look on his face (check out the video below).

We are having a good time. I am off for the summer which is really nice being home with Sydney. And, every day that Jr has off we get some quality time to be together as a family. Sydney and I will be headed out to Houston next week for a few days. Then we will come back as I have my first mini-TRI the last weekend of the month. We then will head to Arkansas for a little while, and Jr will come and meet us. Looking forward to our trips.

Sydney is really trying to walk. He loves walking with assistance and will stand in place thinking about taking a few steps.

Hope this finds you all well. Enjoy every moment...we sure are!

Laughing and Fun Times

I'm feeding myself now.
Well Sydney is a few weeks short of being one year old...it's amazing how time flies. He is getting so big and is just a joy. He loves to laugh and is rarely unhappy. He's growing a full head of hair and is starting on his summer tan, despite being lathered in sunscreen every time we go out. He is crawling everywhere, pulling up on everything and is really wanting to walk, but isn't yet. He has four teeth and loves to use them. This past week he has started to really enjoy feeding himself on his own, however we still help him a lot.

Here is a video of Sydney and one of his close friends, Iris, laughing in her crib (the picture's not the best, but the sound is great). They have such a good time playing together. Sydney tries to get everything from Iris; Iris either shares or says "no" and he's happy either way. We'll see how it gets as they get older.

Today we went to the zoo and had a really good time. I am so ready to be done working for the summer, however it is really nice to have a day off a week to spend with Sydney.

Hi Mom!

Yesterday when we were hiking along a trail we saw something move ahead and there were two snakes. Luckily, we saw them and they were busy mating. It was quite scary, but cool to see. Sydney actually watched them move about for a little bit.

We also went to a birthday party this last weekend. It was really fun. We were outdoors (the weather has finally turned warm) and it was good to see some of Sydney's friends (and mine) that I haven't been able to see because I'm working. There was a photographer there taking pictures of all the kids. Here are a few of Sydney.

Well that's all for now.
Hugs to you all from The Gaisers,

Sydney, Robert, and Leslie

Wow, it's been a long time...

Since I've posted. A lot has been happening and it is hard for me to get a moment to sit down at the computer to update this...I hope to get better and Sydney starts to entertain himself more.

We recently took a trip to Arkansas to see both sides of the family (except my dad's side) and Sydney had to learn some quick karate to protect himself from Annabel (Uncle B's and Aunt L's dog). After this sly move, she seemed to leave him alone a bit more.
We spent time with everyone. Sydney got to meet so many new people and we had such a good time.
Since we have returned it has been busy, busy, busy. Sydney has learned to climb up the stairs and is fearless with it. He knows how to go up really well, but the come down needs a lot of work. However he is trying to come down, he just likes to go face first. Fun times.
Sydney is also starting to say mama and dada, sometimes connected and sometimes not. He also has started signing for milk, but again not connected yet.
This weekend the Balagtas crew is in town visiting. I will upload some pics later of that. Apollo is very cute and seems to be intrigued by Sydney.
So there's an update...more pics and video to come.

Crawling!!

Well, since the last post (about two days after it) Sydney started crawling. So, needless to say, I don't get a chance to sit down at the computer too often. Sydney is into just about EVERYTHING!!! His favorite thing to go for is the cable box. Jr and I have frantically been looking for an enclosed TV stand.
We are headed to Arkansas next week and are really looking forward to it. Lots to do to get ready. Travelling always seems to be a lot to get ready for, but always worth it.
All is good with us. It's such a joy to watch Sydney grow and do new things every day. Babies rule!

Lots has happened

First time swinging...weee!

Hello all,

Well it has been ages since we have updated our blog. A lot has happened and Sydney has changed so much in just a month. We had our first cold/ear infection/round on antibiotics, which was exciting. After several trips to the doctor and one to urgent care, because he broke out in hives, we made it through. During this time his Nona (Leslie's mom) came out to visit and he gave her the cold too. She had every symptom that Sydney had, minus the hives. And then I got it a little bit, not as bad as he had it. Well then Jr didn't want to be left out, so it picked it up, too. So, I think we are finally all well, at least until something new goes around day care and Sydney brings it home.

Sydney is now trying very hard to crawl. He is definitely getting to where he wants to go, but not traditionally crawling yet. I think by the end of the week he will be. Just yesterday, he was playing by the stairs and decided to stand up on his own. Quite exciting.

I am working pretty hard to baby proof the house. I finally figured out how to use my new power drill and the latches on the cabinets are getting easier as I move along. I love using the drill, so watch out home projects.

Jr had Sydney the other day and he was so tired that when he went to feed him he fell asleep in his high chair. That was very cute. He is just like any other active baby...he will just go and go until he can't go anymore and then he will crash, wherever he may be. It's amazing how much he changes. He has also found his voice again and will talk very loudly for minutes at a time, especially when he first wakes up in the morning.

Sydney also is getting to where he is moving so much that just to get the housework done is pretty hard. However, he loves being in the Ergo carrier, so we're getting pretty good at doing things with him on our back. Here is is with Jr vacuuming.

It's also a great way to get him to nap if he won't go to sleep. Here is he after about 10 minutes of vacuuming.

So it is always exciting in our house these days. We are loving parenthood and Sydney is just awesome. We will be heading to Arkansas at the end of March which will be pretty exciting. He will see his grandparents (except for Paw-Paw, who lives in Houston). He will also meet some of his family for the first time. We are really looking forward to it. So, to end, Sydney has started the raspberry thing again, which is always so cute, so here's a short video of his little noise.

Enjoy! and hope you all are well.

Sydney Laughing

Well the hogs lost, but what can we do. We still watched to the end and enjoyed it.

Sydney is so fun to watch grow and play with. Today Jr was making a little sound and Sydney just loved it. We had to get the video out because it was so cute. Anyhow, here he is laughing away. Enjoy!

Halftime---Go Hogs beat Mizzou

Well we've got a lot to do to win this game.

Anyhow.. Jr didn't make it long. He is now out (11:15 a.m.). Just thought I'd upload that pic for you all to see. Good thing for DVR's.
